A Warm Welcome to Positive Dental Habits

While children aren’t born with a natural fear of the dentist, the unknown can sometimes lead to worries and anxieties. That’s why we make it our priority to create a welcoming and reassuring environment for you and your child. From the moment your family steps into our office, we want you to feel at ease, knowing that we’ll use gentle, non-frightening language to explain each treatment and ensure a positive experience.

A Kid-Friendly Atmosphere

We believe that a dental visit can be enjoyable for kids and comfortable for adults. That’s why we’ve curated an array of perks and amenities in our office. While you wait for your child’s appointment to begin, take advantage of our complimentary beverages, internet access, TV, and a children’s play area and game room. These amenities are designed to make the visit fun and relaxing for kids, while also providing a comfortable and convenient space for adults. We want the entire family to feel at home during their time with us.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Recommends...

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, it’s recommended that children visit the dentist by their first birthday. This early visit is crucial in ensuring that your child’s newly erupted teeth, which usually appear around six to twelve months of age, receive proper dental care and establish healthy oral hygiene habits from the start. By starting early, we can work together to lay a solid foundation for your child’s dental health.

Get Acquainted with Your Child’s Teeth – It’s Fun!

Watching your child’s teeth emerge is an exciting milestone. The eruption of their first primary or baby teeth typically occurs between the ages of six and twelve months, continuing until around age three. During this time, your child’s gums may feel tender and sore. To help alleviate any discomfort, try gently rubbing their gums with a clean finger or a cool, wet cloth. You may also find soothing relief with teething rings. As the teething process progresses, your child will have a total of 20 primary teeth.

Throughout childhood, these primary teeth will be shed at different times, making way for the eruption of permanent teeth, which usually begins at around age six and continues until around age 21. By adulthood, most individuals have 28 permanent teeth, including wisdom teeth.

Preventing Tooth Decay with Regular Checkups

Tooth decay occurs when sugars left in the mouth convert into an acid that can damage the teeth. Unfortunately, many children and adolescents are at a higher risk of tooth decay due to inconsistent oral hygiene habits. Establishing regular brushing and flossing routines combined with regular dental visits is essential in preventing tooth decay.

We recommend that your child visits the dentist every six months for regular cleanings and checkups. Along with cleanings, we also suggest fluoride treatments twice a year to strengthen their teeth. Additionally, we may recommend tooth sealants, which act as protective barriers for the deep grooves in your child’s teeth, shielding them from decay. While sealants last for several years, our team will monitor them during your child’s regular checkups.
